Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older, as well as some younger individuals with certain disabilities.
Original Medicare includes two parts:
Part A – Hospital Insurance
Helps cover hospital stays, skilled nursing facilities, hospice care, and some home health services.Part B – Medical Insurance
Helps cover doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and medical equipment. Many people choose additional coverage to help pay for costs not covered by Original Medicare.
-
Medicare Advantage plans (also called Part C) are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare.
These plans combine your Medicare coverage into one plan and often include additional benefits such as:
Prescription drug coverage
Dental and vision benefits
Wellness programs
Coverage, provider networks, and costs can vary depending on the plan.
-
Medicare Supplement plans help cover some of the out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare does not pay, such as deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance.
These plans work alongside Original Medicare and allow you to see any provider that accepts Medicare.
Plan options are standardized, but premiums and availability may vary.
-
Medicare Part D is a federal program designed to help cover the cost of prescription drugs for seniors. It's an optional plan designed specifically for prescription medications offered to individuals who are eligible for Medicare.

Dental, hearing, and vision coverage is essential for seniors. There are generally three options for Medicare beneficiaries:
Medicare Advantage: Many Medicare Advantage plans include dental and vision benefits. These plans can include coverage for routine dental care and vision care
Standalone Dental, Vision & Hearing Plans: These can be purchased separately from other Medicare coverage and include a wide range of coverage options.
Dental & Vision Discount Plans: These are not insurance plans, but they can offer reduced rates on dental and vision services through a network of participating providers.
Life Insurance
Life insurance is a safety net designed to provide financial security to beneficiaries in the event of the policyholder’s death. By paying a death benefit, life insurance can help cover expenses such as funeral costs, outstanding debts, or lost income, ensuring that loved ones are financially supported.
As with all insurance, there are many different types of life insurance plans:
Final Expense Insurance: Designed to cover end-of-life expenses, such as funeral costs and outstanding medical bills.
Term Life Insurance: Provides coverage for a specific amount of time, such as 10, 20, or 30 years.
Universal Life Insurance: Allows policyholders to adjust premiums and death benefits. It also has a cash value component that earns interest.
Variable Life Insurance: Allows policyholders to invest the cash value in various investment options such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds. The death benefit and cash value depend on the performance of these investments.
Whole Life Insurance: Provides lifelong coverage as long as premiums are paid. It also includes a cash value component that grows tax-deferred over time.
